Francis Preve

Making the jump from technology guru to DJ/producer is a tough trick to pull off, but if anyone’s got the skills to tackle it, it’s Francis Prive. In the past five years, his involvement in the music tech scene has ranged from lending his audio skills to both Ableton and Korg to serving as technology editor for Beatportal. But when his debut single, ‘Caboose’, was released on Different Pieces in winter 2008, Prive began making waves in the EDM world, as well.

With support from a broad range of DJs – including Josh Gabriel, Dave Seaman, Martijn Ten Velden and Richard Dinsdale – ‘Caboose’ proved that Prive’s production know-how extended far beyond waveform editing and spectral analysis. His follow up releases, both as remixer and artist, are prime examples of his remarkable ability to blend progressive and tech house, whilst staying true to each.

Francis Prive is also a veteran collaborator, having programmed and engineered Top 10 Billboard Club remixes for US pop DJs Joe Bermudez and Roland Belmares, so it’s no surprise that putting him in a studio with electro wunderkind, Wolfgang Gartner, would yield extraordinary results as their debut collaborations ‘Yin’ and ‘Yang’ clearly attest.

Not content to simply produce, Prive began DJing in 2006. Drawing from over a decade of production and musicianship, his deep and funky sets are consistent crowd-pleasers whether he’s headlining and or opening for legendary artists like Tiësto, Gabriel & Dresden, and Kaskade. As a result, Prive has played in some of the USA’s hottest venues, including Avalon Hollywood, Pacha NYC, Pawn Shop Miami, Ruby Skye San Francisco, and Rich’s Houston, to name just a few.
